Bring your friends, bring your colleagues and come join us  for the last Food Truck Rodeo of 2011! The December Food Truck Rodeo & Food Drive is this Thursday, December 15th at RTP Headquarters from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM. Participating food trucks are: Pie Pushers, Only Burger, Chirba Chirba, and an additional food truck to be announced shortly. Tables & chairs will be set up inside of the RTP Conference Center so everyone can enjoy their meal and escape the chill outside. As always, parking is very limited so we strongly encourage carpooling or using our recently re-paved pedestrian trails.  Don’t forget to bring a donation for the food drive  to receive a ticket good for $1 off at any of the participating food trucks.  

In the spirit of giving during the holidays, we’d like for the RTP Community to take this opportunity to give back to those that are less fortunate.  Community Outreach@rtp would like to encourage all Food Truck Rodeo patrons to bring a donation for the for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern Carolina.

The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington.  Some of the specific items that they are in need of include: baby products, hygiene items, paper products, and kid friendly items such as granola bars, popcorn, and graham crackers. The November Food Truck Rodeo & Food Drive happened to fall on one of the coldest, rainiest days in November.  We are very thankful for those of you that came out and braved the cold & rain.  Based on the current forecast, this coming Thursday is shaping up to be a beautiful day and not too wintry or rainy, so we are looking forward to seeing everyone at RTP HQ for a great meal & to do some good.

The first RTP Food Truck Rodeo was a great success, and are excited that we are going to make this next one even bigger & better.  We listened to your comments and the message was clear – we love having food trucks in RTP, we want to make it a regular event, and we want more trucks!  Your wish is our command.

In addition to the trucks that were at the first RTP Food Truck Rodeo, Pie Pushers Pizza Truck, Chirba Chirba Dumpling Truck, and The Parlour Ice Cream Truck, we’re are excited to announce that we will be adding two new trucks to the lineup: the always popular Only Burger and Blue Sky Dining Comfort Food & Sandwiches.

We are also going to bring in some tables & chairs so everyone can relax and enjoy what is sure to be one of those beautiful North Carolina fall days.  Bring your picnic blankets & camping chairs too!

RTP Mini Food Truck Rodeo

Round up your friends and colleagues and come on out to RTP Headquarters at 12 Davis Drive on Thursday, September 22 from 11:30 AM till 1:30PM for the first ever RTP Food Truck Lunch Rodeo.

Since we don’t have restaurants in RTP, we’re bringing the restaurants to you! We’ll have Pie Pushers slinging some delicious pies, Chirba Chirba serving up Chinese style dumplings and The Parlour there to help you top it all off with some delicious ice cream. 

Now, we know how those in the Triangle love a food truck rodeo, gauging from the success of the Durham Food Truck Rodeo at the Farmer’s Market (where we heard the lines were 30 minutes or more), so we are excited to host one at RTP. 

The plan is to make this a monthly event so save the dates for the upcoming rodeos on Thursday, October 20th and Thursday, November 17th.

We can’t wait to see you on Thursday!

Pie Pushers Slinging Pies in RTP on Thursday

Are you looking to spice up your lunchtime routine?  Come to RTP Headquarters on Thursday, June 9th to enjoy some freshly made pizza pie from the new pizza food truck, Pie Pushers!

With the tag line, “Pies for the people,” you know it is going to be good.  Pie Pushers is getting rave reviews in the Durham food truck scene. Owners Becky Cascio & Mike Hackerd recognized that there wasn’t a pizza truck in the booming Durham food truck market and happily filled this gap with Pie Pushers. Their “Durham-style” crust is a hand-tossed, thin crust, what Pie Pushers describes as “a little crunchy but still wonderfully fluffy at the same time.”    This is a crust that was perfected by co-owner Mike and his mother over the course of 10 years.

Pizza is sold by the slice or by the whole pie and their menu options range from standard fare such as cheese and pepperoni to specialty pies like the Baked Potato, State of Nirvana, and Under My Shoe.
