Durham Gets Creative with Food to Benefit Thousands!

The second annual Creative Food Drive (CFD) in Durham is underway and is being hosted this year by MHAworks to raise food and awareness benefiting Housing for New Hope and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.  Like last year, registered teams will compete to build structures from donated food at the event on September 22nd taking place at Rigsbee North (Motorco and Full Steam).  Roughly 500 people are expected to turn out for the competition which will include live music, games and local food and drink vendors.  Click here for more info.

“It’s a great way for the Durham community to learn about our branch in the city and to provide meals for families who may need our help,” said Linda Fisher, Special Events and Food Drive Manager for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern Carolina.   Last year the event raised over 8,160 meals for the Food Bank.

The Research Triangle Park is throwing its creativity into the competition this year.  The RTP team is kicking off its donation drive on Thursday, August 16th at the RTP Headquarters (12 Davis Drive) with a Creative Food Drive-In Breakfast!   The first 150 participants who bring in two non-perishable food items between 7:30 am and 9:00 am qualify for a free breakfast sandwich and coffee — all without leaving their vehicle.  So stop in and help us make Thursday’s breakfast the most important meal of the day!

Our region is known for creativity and innovation as demonstrated with efforts like  CFD…What a great way to involve the community to benefit so many!
